Overview

Cleveland HeartLab, Inc. (CHL) is a premier next-generation clinical reference laboratory committed to advancing cardiovascular risk assessment through unique and proprietary diagnostic tests. We focus on novel inflammatory and cardiovascular biomarker technologies that allow for advanced risk assessment.

With quality and efficiency as our goals, this position will receive, unpack, code, and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.  Maintains data base by entering new and updated customer, account detail, patient insurance and test order information for specimens received into the L.I.S. system.

 

The 'Work-Week' for this role is Tuesday-Saturday off Sunday and Monday. 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintains operations and compliance by following policies and procedures, CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and other regulations as instructed.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Receive and unpack human blood, urine, and other biological specimens, performing quality checks on the specimens and the test requisition, and accurately enters patient demographics including Patient Address, Phone, email, Last 4SSN. All Insurance Information, Diagnosis, Bill Type and test order information in the LIS system.
  • Processes customer and account source documents by reviewing data for deficiencies, resolving discrepancies by using standard procedures or escalating incomplete documents for resolution.
  • Enters customer and account data by inputting alphabetic and numeric information.  Knowledge of and/or aptitude to work with order documents, CPT, and IC10 codes.
  • Maintains data entry requirements by following data program techniques and procedures.
  • Verifies entered customer and account data to ensure accuracy of all data entry.
  • Identifies orders that do not meet CHL acceptable criteria including examples such as ABN, requisition type, and missing critical information.
  • Scanning of documents into the LIS system to ensure prompt access for all departments to view.
  • Prepare all necessary pending lists for Specimen Send-Out’s daily.
  • Ability to recognize problems, investigate and resolve through proper follow through.

Additional Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Maintains general appearance of the department.
  • Attends monthly department meetings and regular hand-off communication meetings.
  • Creation and resolution of all cases, as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as directed by management.

Maintains training in Department of Transportation (DOT) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations and all assigned policies, procedures, and continuing education requirements

Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma or GED, plus at least one year working in a hospital or reference laboratory accessioning. Or, Bachelor or Associate Degree, plus related work experience.
  2. Phlebotomy certification or Medical Assistant certification is desired but not required, combined with at least one year of Phlebotomy experience or working in a laboratory accessioning.
  3. Thoroughness in the completion of work, effective analytical and critical thinking skills, decision making ability, and problem solving capability are necessary.
  4. Data Entry (both alpha and numeric), Typing, 10 Key-Touch (number), Microsoft Word and Excel.
  5. Must be able to work as a team member in a fast paced, regulated environment where attention to detail and doing the job right the first time is essential.
  6. Must be able to positively and effectively interact with others.
  7. Effective interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are required.
